Let's squash It Challenge #22 - Keep it Clean and Simple

It's the final call here at Let's squash It! for our CAS Challenge. Thanks to Gail for diving in at the last minute with this stunning card for our inspiration post. Even though I'm still on the Covid sick list I felt well enough to do a little cardmaking this morning and this was the result.

I really do love the EF I used for this card: Distressed Lines by Creative Expressions which I combined with a sentiment from Simon Says Stamp and a watercolour background and some cute shapes from my scraps box.

There's still a week left to play along in this challenge, and Gail, our lovely guest Carol and I hope all you'll come and join the fun.

Inspiration for the July Challenge - Keep It CAS

Hello Squashettes!  Gail here today.  It was going to be Jo, but Corona has grabbed her and her hubby, so you get me instead!!  Hope you both feel better soon Jo.

Our theme this month is Keep It CAS.  Any embossing folder and a Clean and Simple creation.  I am a big fan of clean and simple and embossing folders can add a real wow to a simple design.  Today I decided to combine nature and technology.   I've used part of Cuttlebug's Bird Call embossing folder and gone slimline.

I've used a cream DL card base and cut a white panel with Mama Elephant Scallop Stitch Slimline die.  US slimline and A4 sizes are different from european ones, but this die is easy to line up and shorten the panel to make it fit my base.   I stamped Stamplorations plane and sentiment from the Born to Roam set with black archival.  Then I embossed the top part of the Bird Call folder.   Remember, it's easier to stamp first and then emboss......

I hope you get a chance to join our Keep It Simple challenge.

Thanks for dropping by.  Hugz

Let's Squash It! Challenge #22 - Keep it CAS!

Welcome, welcome, welcome to the 22nd challenge here at

Let's Squash It!

Let's Squash It! is The Embossing Folder Challenge.  We are gonna help you explore the world of the not so humble embossing folder and encourage you to dig 'em out, knock the dust off and find old, new and fun ways to make your projects pop.

We have an awesome team to keep you entertained and awesome challenge themes to stretch your creativity and get you using all those long forgotten and neglected embossing folders.

For those of you who are just tuning in you can check the previous posts for the story behind the genesis of the challenge and the technique posts for awesome tips and techniques to help you make the most of your supplies and folders.

Challenges start on the 10th of the month and run to the last day at 23.59 GMT.  We will be picking top picks and a winner, who will have a chance to be our guest designer for a future challenge.  There is a little prize on offer for a randomly selected winner and these will all be announced on the 8th of next month.

So, Challenge #22
And this month's theme is

Use any Embossing Folder AND Keep it CAS!

Use any embossing folder and Keep it CAS - yes, we're all about Clean and Simple cards this month.   Because we are also all about embossing folders we are happy for you to have a single colour fully embossed background if you want, but please keep it clean and simple with minimal embellishments and images.  Please make sure you include both parts of the challenge on your card and also check da roolz to ensure your entry will be eligible for the random prize draw!

We are very pleased to have our Let's Squash It!! Empress joining us as our guest designer this month.  Please welcome Carol L.

"I started scrapbooking while my children were growing up, and one day I walked into a craft store and saw some sample cards announcing an upcoming class to learn how to make them. I signed up and I've been hooked ever since. I made cards for soldiers and hospitalized children through the years and although I don't make cards on a massive scale like that any more, I still enjoy making them for my friends and relatives. I'm honoured to have been asked to guest design for the Let's Squash It! Challenge."

And here's what Empress Carol has made for this challenge:

Let's Squash It! Winners for Challenge #21

Hi there, Squashettes, it's Jo here today to share the results of Challenge #21 where we asked you to...

Make it Manly!

Before we get to the results, I'd just like to say a very big thank you to Joanne for being our guest, having been crowned Empress of Squash for our April Challenge. Thanks, Joanne, it's always such a pleasure to have you with us!

I don't know about you but I don't find masculine cards the easiest to create, however our gallery looked fabulous for this challenge and Joanne, Gail and I really loved seeing all the entries. Thanks so much to everyone who played along.

We were very impressed with:

#13 - Robyn

Beautiful colours and layout, and what a fab way to use that EF.

#3 - Linda W

We loved Linda's attention to detail on this very special card.

Congratulations to you both, I hope you enjoy your shiny new badge!

Our Challenge Winner is:

#7 Emma T.

We all loved how Emma used EFs to create this foaming pint!

Congratulations, Emma, please grab your Empress Badge, and Gail and I hope you'll join us as a future guest designer. Please email me at dottypudding (at) aol.com so we can make the arrangements!

Finally, we have our Random Prize to award...

It's you #4 - Viv!
