More Inspiration for Challenge #23 - Don't Be So Square

Hello Squashettes!!!   Gail here today with some more inspiration for our awesome Shaped Card challenge Don't Be So Square.

Where you all is?????   Grab those shape dies or lob off some corners and join the fun.  I've made a rocking gravestone bwahaahhahhahaaaaaaaa. Ha ha ha........

I used a Spellbinder die for the card base and panel and an oval die to cut the bottom in a curve shape.  I used patterned paper for the panel and embossed with Sizzix Halloween Night embossing folder.  I highlighted the skeleton with white dye ink and the raven with archival black and edged with promarker brown and black.  The cat is Cheery Lynn Whimsical Halloween Cat with some neon paper eyes and a little white gel pen to accentuate the spider.  It rocks!!!!!

Grab your embossing folders and your not square/rectangle cards and join the fun!

Inspiration for Challenge #23 - Don't Be So Square

It's Jo here today to share a little bit more inspiration for our current challenge here at Let's Squash It!

Gail and I are delighted to be joined this month by Emma from Trenouths Crafty Creations. She made this lovely hexagonal card to get us started for this challenge...

Isn't it gorgeous! I love the sweet, feminine look Emma's achieved and that white embossing is a perfect background for the hollyhock die cuts.

I decided to channel the femininity of Emma's card for my card. It really is a card... it's a tag-shaped card and actually larger than it looks on the photograph.

The EFs are Kirsty Allsop/Cuttlebug Swiggles and a lovely, little Sizzix number that doesn't have a name on it. Just like Emma, I used plenty of white in the background to really make the main image 'pop'.

We currently have a grand total of 2 beautiful cards in the gallery thus far. Well done Joanne and Robyn! Here's hoping we'll have a few more appear to join them before the end of the month. Come on guys, shaped cards are so much fun!

Let's Squash It! Challenge #23 - Don't Be So Square

Welcome, welcome, welcome to the 23rd challenge here at

Let's Squash It!

Let's Squash It! is The Embossing Folder Challenge.  We are gonna help you explore the world of the not so humble embossing folder and encourage you to dig 'em out, knock the dust off and find old, new and fun ways to make your projects pop.

We have an awesome team to keep you entertained and awesome challenge themes to stretch your creativity and get you using all those long forgotten and neglected embossing folders.
For those of you who are just tuning in you can check the previous posts for the story behind the genesis of the challenge and the technique posts for awesome tips and techniques to help you make the most of your supplies and folders.

Challenges start on the 10th of the month and run to the last day at 23.59 GMT.  We will be picking top picks and a winner, who will have a chance to be our guest designer for a future challenge.  There is a little prize on offer for a randomly selected winner and these will all be announced on the 8th of next month.

So, Challenge #23
And this month's theme is

Use any Embossing Folder AND Make a Shaped Card

Use any embossing folder and make any style or type of card as long as it isn't square or rectangle!   Please make sure you include both parts of the challenge on your card and also check da roolz to ensure your entry will be eligible for the random prize draw!

We are very pleased to have our Let's Squash It!! Empress joining us as our guest designer this month.  Please welcome Emma from Trenouth's Crafty Creations:

"I'm Emma and I am very lucky to live in beautiful Cornwall, England. It is a place that inspires me every day being surrounded by both the countryside and seaside.   I got into cardmaking after starting to make cards using photos of my paintings and then I got more addicted to papercrafting and my painting has taken a backseat for now.  I think my style is quite eclectic but usually full of colour.  If I'm not crafting in some way then I am out enjoying all the flora and fauna."

And here is guest designers Emma's card:
